Hey Batter, Batter!

As I have mentioned, Alex and Billie will start t-ball in a couple of weeks. Alex has had a bat and tee since she could pretty much walk. So she is fairly good at batting. She will only bat left handed -which Billie finds absolutely awesome.

Here is a little video of what showed up in our backyard a couple of weeks ago. As you will see...we need a little practice on this thing (I don't even know what it is called.) I sure got a kick out of it!

Don't think we'll be getting any recruiting calls from Coach Gasso or Coach Walton anytime soon!

Gymnastics 2008-2009

As I reflect on the last several months of blogging, I must remind myself that you are not bragging if blogging...so with that being said - here are the gymnastics pictures of Alex.

I think they turned out really cute. Especially since I was out of town when they were taken and she and Billie had to do her hair. (not a problem anymore!) The little boy next to Alexandra with the funny expression in the group picture is the infamous Will Foreman. They are dear friends, go to school together and are always in trouble at gymnastics. Will is very into all things boy and Alex says that she will marry Will Foreman someday. I know - isn't four year old love sweet? Enjoy!

McGinnis March Madness

Billie and Alex started a tradition last March...they both do "rackets." Billie does them at work, etc., but he also does several with our best girl! Here is one of Alex's 3 "Rackets" this year. She is writing quite well and has chosen Duke to win. (Mainly because she thinks the name is funny!)

On another sport side note...Billie and Alex have signed up for t-ball...he will be her coach. She informed me tonight in her bath that she plans to call Billie "Coach." Melted my heart!

Goldilocks Doesn't Live Here Anymore

This post is very picture heavy, but I have to get this out somewhere. Today, Alex was supposed to be resting for a couple of hours and we were going to go outside and do some yard work. Well, many times on Sunday, we don't push the nap because she won't go to bed at night for some reason. So I was in the living room catching up on my DVRed shows...when time was up...I told her she could come out. And this is what came out into the living room.

So the story goes: Her tag was bothering her and she was going to cut it out. Well, this shirt doesn't have a tag, the info is printed on the shirt. She also continued to wear this shirt until bedtime. ???????? She had picked up all the hair and put in the trash can and told me that she didn't think I would notice.

I really kept my cool, but was shocked. Billie said it made him sick to his stomach. Needless to say, there were some tears shed over this deal. Thank goodness for the mall.

In total she cut 9 inches off the side that you will see is above her hairline. The cut she got isn't the best, but was all we could do with what was left. It is cute on her...just not the way any of planned to start this week. Enjoy and laugh...everyone seems to have a story...guess we have ours now too!

Four Generations of Women - Grandma's Hands

Many of you have probably seen an equivalent to this email going around. My Grandma is very special to me and Alexandra is also fond of her even though she no longer talks or engages.

At Christmas I had Natalie take a picture of my hand, Alex's, my mom's and my grandma's. I changed the wording a bit to apply and have matted and framed it. My grandma is no longer the same as she is in a nursing home with alzheimers. Just one of the projects I have been working on - and wanted to share. I hope you enjoy it!

GRANDMA'S HANDS

Stop and think for a moment about the hands you have, how they have served you well throughout your years. These hands, though wrinkled shriveled and weak have been the tools I have used all my life to reach out and embrace life.

They braced and caught my fall when as a toddler I crashed upon the floor.

They put food in my mouth and clothes on my back. As a child, my mother taught me to fold them in prayer. They tied my shoes and pulled on my boots.

They have been dirty, scraped and raw, swollen and bent. They were uneasy and clumsy when I tried to hold my newborn. Decorated with my wedding band and showed the world that I was married and loved someone special. They trembled and shook when I buried my parents and spouse.

They have held my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, consoled neighbors, and shook in fists of anger when I didn't understand.

To this day when not much of anything else of me works real well these hands hold me up, lay me down, and again continue to fold in prayer.

These hands are the mark of where I've been and the ruggedness of life.

But most importantly it will be these hands that God will reach out and take when he leads me home. And with my hands He will lift me to His side and there I will use these hands to touch the face of Christ.

The Daddy Daughter Dance Pictures

The pictures that Billie and Alex took at the Dance last month FINALLY came in the mail yesterday. Billie purchased quite the "prom package." I totally cracked up when I saw it. Alex looks like she has been through the ringer, Billie has the cheesiest smile and Alex looks like she just pulled her thumb out of her mouth as it is in "position" and is still wet. (Yes, she still sucks her thumb when tired.)
I asked Billie about the crazy hair, etc. He informed me, "The picture was taken toward the end of the dance and we had just danced to the Jonas Brothers."

Enough Said! Hope it makes you laugh like I did!

Shall I list the Reasons?

I have been a terrible blogger lately! I saw last night where Sam finally posted something...I had told myself that as soon as she did I would too.

Here are my lame reasons why I haven't made an effort to post in several weeks:
1. I am officially addicted to Facebook. I hate it, but love it in the same sentence. I can't do anything else while on the computer. I have had to promise myself not to even open it at work.
2. Billie and I took an impromptu trip to Las Vegas. We hadn't been somewhere without a family member or friend since 2000. How pathetic are we?
3. I have had one hell of a sinus infection.
4. Weekends have been busy with Billie's closet remodel. He has been building shelves and making room for Alex to finally have a closet of her own. The first closet he did was a little bit of Southern Engineering, but he has improved with each closet I must say. Building shelves, replacing shelf paper and painting. I must say it has turned out nice.
5. I have been working on one of many evergoing projects (in all my spare time, you know.) I am converting all my parents 1,000's of pictures to digital. It is taking me forever, but will be so nice for us all to have a disk with every family picture on it.

Here are a few Vegas Pictures...
